Who Are We?

The Missouri Land Improvement Contractors Association (LICA) was founded in 1941 by a group of primarily terracing contractors in an attempt to promote the proper management of soil and water, with the ultimate goal being the preservation of Missouri's precious topsoil.

Other contractors soon began to take notice of those Missouri contractors' success and formed their own state LICA organizations. The National LICA was formed in 1951.

Although LICA's underlying activity is still topsoil conservation, the organization has undergone many transformations over the years. Today,  we represent small, family-owned construction companies from around the state who perform  the following types of work:

Cable & Utility Installation On Site Waste Management Ponds or Dams
Erosion Control Reclamation Earthmoving & Land Clearing
Directional Boring Road Boring/Drainage Excavating or Grading
Drainage & Irrigation Septic Systems Terraces & Waterways
Landscaping Site Preparation/Development Water Management
Land Leveling Sewer/ Water/Underground Utilities Trucking & Hauling
Open Ditch Work

Missouri LICA is composed of six geographic  districts, with each District meeting regularly throughout the year to address local issues. Each District maintains an independent set of officers and membership. In addition, the Missouri LICA state chapter is a member of National LICA's
Region IV, along with LICA Chapters in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

MLICA offers three types of membership:

s "Active Contractors" for those engaged in owning and operating equipment for land
     improvement.

s "Company Associates" for vendors or suppliers of machinery, materials, insurance, etc.

s "Supporting Members" for those interested in the professional conservation of soil and water
but are not active contractors or vendors.
